Here’s an email I got today from Jennifer.
Jen and Ken filed bankruptcy in February 2010. Because Jen’s bankruptcy does NOT show on her credit report, her credit score is much lower than Ken’s.
( Jennifer and Ken are not their real names.)
If your after bankruptcy credit rpeort isn’t right, we’ll work with you on dispute letters to the credit bureaus. If letters don’t work, we’ll sue.

I pulled my credit a few days ago and the discharge is still not showing, many account are marked as delinquent and my score is terrible. I filed several ‘disputes’ with Equifax but this could take up to 45 days. Why is the discharge not on my credit report? What can I do to fix this?? Instant credit report can help people a lot especially in United Kingdom where salaried people have to face unforeseen expenses. In order to tackle such expenses, people apply for loans and lenders don’t lend the money without credit score. At times, lenders ask you to deposit or show the credit report within few hours. In many states, you are allowed to get the free copy of report without any problem but it consumes lot of time.
Usually, UK citizens raise this question how they can get the instant credit report. There are two ways to get the report quickly, first, with the help of leading credit bureaus and second is internet. As we all know that nothing can beat the speed of internet, either you are looking for loan or your report. As far as accuracy is concerned, instant credit report can provide you the accuracy up to 90-95%. A

So how are they getting away with it?
The answer is in the credit reporting instruction manual, published by the three credit bureaus. The manual, called Metro 2, includes about a dozen codes for bankruptcies. Chapter 7, chapter 13, discharged, dismissed.
One of those codes, Code Q, means ignore the bankruptcy. We’re seeing mortgage

Credit Q&A: “How often to check your credit report?”
Credit reporting seems to be all the rage these days, now that a ton of companies have realized how profitable the fear of the unknown can be.
Now don’t get me wrong – staying on top of your credit history is extremely important, especially when it comes time to apply for a credit card or a loan.
But it may have been blown out of proportion just a bit in recent years.
There are a ton of services out there nowadays to keep track of your credit, such as credit monitoring, which tracks it continuously, and free credit reports, which allow you to access your credit report for free for a week or so, before converting into full blown credit monitoring programs.
See credit monitoring vs free credit reports for more on that.
Choosing which is right for you will depend on your unique situation. As I me
